Good Morning
I don’t find many reviews online about Moes
ZigBee Star Ring Smart Thermostat. Do you recommend it? Anyone using it in home assistant with zigbee 2 mqtt without any moes hub?
Thanks
Models are: ZHT-SR-GA-WH-MS or ZHT-SR-GC-WH-MS or ZHT-SR-GB-WH-MS
Hi giovanniong,
I am using the GB version for about 2 weeks now, without a Hub (with Z2M) and it works well. The only thing (I didn’t find out yet) which is not shown correctly is the day (I assume its because the date is not set).
I tried to change the date within HA, but I could not find a way yet.
I assume the date is set automatically, when its connected to the Moes Hub.
But if this is ok for you, then it might be a good choice.

I know this post is a bit old, but I hope it helps others who are looking for information.
I’ve been using the thermostat for a few days now, and my conclusion is: you get what you pay for.
It looks decent at first glance, but once you start using it, it feels a little cheap, but not too bad. As ChG0815 mentioned, there’s no way to set the day of the week. Honestly, the text for the day is so small that it makes no real difference.
I’m using it through Z2M, and it works. However, there’s no way to set schedules or use external temperature sensors directly through the unit or Z2M—but you can achieve similar functionality via Home Assistant.
One thing I really dislike is the offset precision—it only allows adjustments in 1-degree increments. Additionally, the temperature reported by the unit can be off by up to 2 degrees. I managed to work around this by using other thermometers I have to dynamically adjust the offset, which keeps the thermostat within 0.5 degrees of the actual temperature.
With that said, with a bit (in my case, a lot) of effort, you can make it work—but it definitely requires some tweaking. I don’t regret buying it, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re willing to spend time fiddling with Home Assistant to improve its accuracy.
Lastly, I bought it in the UK and it came set to Celsius. There’s no way to change the temperature unit to Fahrenheit through Z2M or via the unit’s interface.
