Monitor does not come out of sleep with HASSbian

When I replace the SD card with a Raspbian OS card I can get the monitor to come out of sleep and return to the GUI. However, this is not the case for HASSbian. I’ve tried a different monitor, re-attaching the HDMI cable and power cycling monitor. Only power cycling the Pi gets things back to normal.

It seems there are some issues with the HASSbian OS, which I’ll try to solve in the mean while by installing a Linux distro first, and then installing Home Assistant separately.

Happened to anyone else? Is my interim solution feasible?

Hassbian does not have required modules to allow a GUI to be displayed (i.e. no linux desktop)

You need to connect using putty and SSH.

I think there is a way to add it but you still need to SSH into HASSBIAN to add it via the command line.

I’ve never seen a need for it personally.

Ha ha, ‘GUI’ was the trigger word that allowed me to solve the problem.

I was moving the mouse to try to get monitor out of sleep mode, turns out HASSbian only monitors the keyboard because there’s no GUI!
