Hey. It has been a very long time since I have touch any settings with this setup. I have a new iphone I was to add and I have added the ble mac address to the known_static_addresses and restarted the monitor service. I can see in mqtt explorer the new device populated but it shows 0 even though the phone is right to the rpi. Was there any other settings I need to setup??
I figure out why it was not connected. The phone needs to have at least one bluetooth device connected. Since the phone was new, there was none. Follow the below FAQ to connect.

Many phones will only broadcast once they have already connected to at least one other Bluetooth device. Connect to a speaker, a car, a headset, or monitor.sh -c [address] and try again.
