Motion activated switch options

I am selling my home. My pantry has a poorly located light switch. When you open the door, the switch is behind it…I have been using a zigbee motion sensor and a zwave light switch to handle that light. Since I will be removing my home assistant, I am looking for an alternative. I dont think a standard motion activated switch will work since the only motion that would be seen is the door. Is there a switch that has a remote motion sensor that I can put in place of the current motion sensor? Anyone have any ideas?

Can you use the zigbee tools to group the 2 and have then just work without HA?

Hang on. You’re posting on the Home Assistant forum asking for help on setup after removing HA?

Good luck! I’d personally call in an electrician & have them set up a dumb PIR hardwired to the light (not the switch).
Then again, it’ll cost basically the same amount to have the electrician wire up the switch on the correct side of the door.

Jamb switch…? But, it’d probably be easier and cheaper to switch the door to open on the other side.

Leave it as it is, your selling the house and this problem did not stop you buying the house.

Your buyers won’t want some bodged up setup randomly turning a light on.

Don’t bother, just take your devices with you when you finally move out and let the new tenants deal with how they want to setup and mange the home.

What about the light itself? Is it just a standard bulb/s in the pantry? If the value of the home is contingent on it being a “smart home”, which in the US can increase the property value upwards to 5-10% if fully featured, then you could replace the bulb/s with a motion-activated bulb/s as long as there’s a good line of sight for the bulb/s when opening the pantry.
