:star2: Motion-Controlled Lighting 4.8 – The Next-Level Light Maestro :star2:

:sparkles: Welcome to the Smartest, Most Flexible Home Yet

Imagine this: You enter a room, and your lights already know what you want. Morning light awakens gently, evenings wrap you in cozy tones, and motion, lux, sun, and schedule all work in perfect harmony.

Motion-Controlled Lighting 4.8 isn’t just an upgrade – it’s a full rewrite of your favorite automation, now smarter, safer, and more reliable:

:sunrise_over_mountains: Morning Glow – Rise and Shine

Weekday, 07:00. Motion triggers your gentle day scene.
If the sun is already up, natural light takes over – no wasted energy.

:sun_with_face: Daytime Smartness

Sunrise/sunset offsets ensure your lights match the season and daylight. Dual fixed off-times guarantee lights never stay on too long. Want a late evening on weekends? No problem.

:crescent_moon: Evening Cozy Mode

Motion or a switch sets night mode: soft, relaxing light. Lights fade off after your chosen auto-off durations – calm, not abrupt.

:alarm_clock: Workday vs Weekend Magic

Workday sensor integration makes your lighting routine-aware: Longer evening scenes on weekends, early shutoff on workdays.

:shield: Failsafe Protection

Forgot the lights? Don’t worry. Failsafe ensures lights automatically turn off after the maximum runtime – now more robust and reliable than ever.

Thank you for sharing! Seems to work fine so far. There are two things that i noticed.

  • I already use a input_boolean helper as a automation blocker. it would be nice if i could put it in as a β€œswitch”
  • There is a sun addon that gives entitiies for dawn and sunset. Maybe you want to look into that? Lux sensor integration is good enough for me personally.

Oh I see , I will take my time and see if there is a possibility too fix something like that! talk about the sun addon I already have this

Use Sunrise/Sunset
Whether the automation should use sun times instead of fixed times.

if it’s this you mean?

meantime take a look at the new 5.2 release that I released online today!

Hey,
I m very new at HomeAssistant, so maybe its just a newbie fault and not a missed future
Am i the only one, who like to switch on light for seconds?
Im using the most of Moving sensors for lights at stairs, corridor - so sometimes i dont need to keep it longer than 20 seconds
Is it possible here?

Thanks in advance
Andreas
