Motion Sensor and Light Situation

When the network goes out and the wife gets upset cuz none of the lights in the bathroom are coming on and she needs to get ready for work and you’re away on business what’s the solution y’all? Don’t need her tearing the whole system down while I’m away now lol

They are Phillips Hue lights and Aqara motion sensor. Basic automation - Detect motion - lights on, and vice versa. But network out? No light for you! Any workaround / solutions? We live in an apartment so points for portability and no rewiring.

First rule of home automation: controls should still work when the system is down.

Use smart switches / dimmers instead of smart bulbs. Zigbee, zwave or wi-fi. Actual switches or modules that fit behind your existing switches. There’s a lot of choice. All these devices control the load directly from the switch - even when the connection to their network is down.

You can still automate them, but if someone needs manual control they have it.

I should have kept reading. That is going to make things difficult.

If you can set the Hue bulbs to come on after a power outage then you should be able to use the light switch when the network is down. Turn it off then when it turns back on the light should come on.
