I recently got new Motion Sensor and Temperature & Humidity Sensor devices and connected them through the Smart Life app. They work fine there, but when I try to add them to Home Assistant, they appear as “unsupported”.
Has anyone faced a similar issue or found a workaround to make these new sensors fully recognized in Home Assistant?
Let me guess, Wifi devices ? Until someone writes a quirk, they will be unsupported.
You can try Local Tuya, Tuya Local and Extend Tuya to get them into HA.
Small tip: stay away from Tuya Wifi and Bluetooth devices, if you want Tuya devices look for the Zigbee variant.
Yeah, it’s the WiFi version. I tried setting them up as local but couldn’t get it to work. If I buy the Zigbee version, will it work and connect properly to HA?
my first devices were also Tuya stuff. I abandoned them as initial rite devices to acces the smart home world.
For Zigbee it does not matter who made them, they can be conneted via Zigbee and that is the easy trick. You only need a receiver for 10-30€ to HA. The good thing is, some Zigbee devices (mostly with ext power connection) channeling the signals as bridges from other devices, so with area optimization you only need the one receiver and no additional bridges.
