Move Data Drive From Failed MicroSD Fails

Hello all,

I’m running the Home Assistant Operating System on an ODroid N2+ with MotionEye.
I added a 1TB MicroSD card and moved the data drive to it.
The MicroSD appears to have died several months later (probably due to the MotionEye I/O), CRC error, OS repair fails 3 times each boot.
It is now locked to read only, I have tried to repair it on several Linux systems to no avail.
I added an external 2TB surveillance rated hard drive via USB.
I then tried moving the data drive to the new USB drive. It begins the process, creates the partition, but it never actually moves the data or changes the location of the data drive in the settings.

Thank you for any thoughts you may have on this.

I expect the sequential writes from motioneye to be much less hammering (:hammer:) to simple flash than the more random writes from HA :warning:

Error messages? Logs? Did you also try to clone the micro SD all together (with partitions) to the new spinning drive you got? :robot:

If I did, how would I change the drive location in the HA settings?

I expected you to use an extra client (one of your several linux systems) to clone your old data to the new drive?

This might just continue to work if you actually clone the hole drive with partitions - else, good question :grimacing:

It’s certainly worth a try.
Thanks for your quick thoughts on this.
