Moving Away from Hive Suggestions

Hi Guys,

I want to move away from Hive door sensors and motion sensors to something more reliable and faster. I’ve had hive installed for two years now and my conclusion basically is theyre not fit for purpose at all. So if anyone has some suggestions as to which sensors for motion and doors i should move over to please do share. Im looking for something that will be able to update HA quick enough to trigger automation’s set in place.

I’ve been using Xiaomi Zigbee sensors, they’re fast, cheap, and the battery lasts 1+ year. No complaints here.

Do i need any special additional hardware in order to use a zigbee sensor?

You can use a DeconZ stick or any of the listed devices for zigbee2mqtt.
