Moving to Home Assistant Blue

Hi anyone I’ve been running home assistant from the VirtualBox on a Linux laptop. But I just ordered the Home Assistant Blue setup (glad to help support the devs). It won’t show up for a while yet which gives me some time to learn.

I use Node-Red for the logic engine and ZHA for the network. I’m currently using a Sonoff Wifi to Zigbee bridge.

Does anyone know of a good article on how to move my config? Is it as simple as copying the config directory or are there more issues that need to be thought of?

Thanks in advance.

Is it correct to assume that your previous HA setup does not have snapshot feature?

It does, in fact, have a snapshot feature. In fact I’ve taken a few although never tried to recover from one. I’m gathering that’s the path I want to look at here?

If you have snapshot, then the migration process should be seamless.

  1. Make sure your snapshots are up to date (check supervisor → snapshots). See the date, HA version, addons version
  2. Copy .tar file to your computer (can be achieved with Samba Share) - or if you have previously use Google Drive Backup, you can download it from there
  3. During the onboarding process, you should be asked if you want to restore from snapshot

Awesome! Thank you very much
