MQQT connection dropping with IP change

Hey! Hoping for some assistance in this.

I have a device connecting into HA through the standard MQTT integration. I cannot make the IP of the device static and am finding that the connection is broken when the router assigns a new IP to the device.

Is there a way to have the MQTT integration scan for IPs and then have HA listen for the messages?

First of all, MQTT clients connect to a broker, not the other way around. No way you can make a broker go scan for clients.

Second: make a IP reservation in your router for your device, so it always gets assigned the same IP.

Thanks for the clarity, my mistake.

The ISP controls the router and will not allow the reservation of the IP on the router, hence my trying to find a workaround.
