No, you can use a VPN between the sites.

I really don’t like transiting a network with those signals. And won’t recommend it ever. Lighting controls should be local as far as I’m concerned… And I wouldn’t run across a Wan or VPN even for one light. I’m installing two HA rigs and linking them together. You said sensor-s meaning multiple. Even more reason not to. Setup a second ha. And the go to HACS and get Remote Homeassistant to glue them together

I’m just getting started with HA, but that’s what I was kinda thinking.
For my learning curve for starters I want to setup location 1 to only display sensor data from location 2. Is MQTT a valid data transport for me to get a dashboard readout of loc-2 sensors before I get physical HA running there?
