I have a Zooz 700 Series hub connected to my HA server (running on a mini PC as a Proxmox VM). I have 6 Zooz ZWave dual Relay units and 2 Zooz ZWave single relay units.
All have the latest firmware. The two single relay units have worked flawlessly since they were installed as have 3 of the dual Relay units. The other 3 dual Relay units seem to “flake out” for no apparent reason and (usually) go back to working normal in a day or two.
These Malfunctions usually consist of HA indicating that they are “dead” and then eventually they just start working again.
But the one in my bathroom has had this same malfunction for the past month or two. It is a dual Relay that controls the light and exhaust fan in my bathroom. If either one of them is on, then flipping the physical switch for the other device (fan or light) will not turn it on. But if I use HA, I CAN turn it on.
Here’s a short YT video showing this issue. I’m hoping that someone here might have some ideas to troubleshoot the general issue of them routinely failing on their own and then waking up. But I’m also hoping someone might have ideas for the bathroom issue.
The staff at www.thesmartesthome.com (the provider of the Zooz Devices) had tried to help but they’ve come up short.
This is a known bug that has been fixed via a firmware update. I check the firmware page frequently so I assume the update was released sometime last week. ZEN52 Double Relay Change Log - Zooz Support Center
Funny enough I do have two three way switches connected to two of the dual relays – those relays are among the three that have NEVER had an issue. The ones that have failed are all single pole switches.
My first thought. Did that – didn’t help.
That’s one of the things the support rep suggested and the issue continues.
I don’t own any incandescent bulbs and I don’t even know where I could buy one – it’s been at least a decade since I saw any in ANY store. The bulb in the light fixture is part of the same box of bulbs that are used in other fixtures in the house that are connected to relays that have never failed. I bought all these bulbs at the same time when I bought the house. So that’s easy to remember.
