I am looking for a way to simplify the user interface for a specific media player in my setup.
My Setup:
Music Assistant (MA) is installed and working perfectly.
I use the built-in MA Media Player to stream to a specific device.
I have several playlists and radio stations curated within Music Assistant.
The Goal: I want to create a dashboard card for this specific device, but I want to limit the access. The user should only see and select from a pre-defined collection of playlists and radio stations (stored in MA), rather than browsing the entire library or all available streaming providers.
The Problem: The standard media-control card or the mini-media-player usually allows browsing the whole library. I want a "kiosk-like" experience for this player where only "Playlist A", "Playlist B", and "Radio X" are visible as quick-access buttons or a filtered list.
Questions:
Is there a way to "expose" only specific MA tags or folders to a dashboard card?
Are there any specific custom cards that might solve this problem?
Any examples of how you've solved this "simplified UI" for family members or guests would be greatly appreciated!
Regarding your point about using Favorites: The problem is that when browsing 'Favorites' via the standard Media Control card, the user still sees all favorites globally. My goal is to restrict the view so that on a specific dashboard, only a specific subset of playlists/stations is visible, without the option to browse the rest of the library.
This leads me to a more general question: Is it possible to achieve this kind of 'curated' or 'restricted' view using HA's built-in cards?
Or is it a known limitation that the standard media browser always shows the full content of the integration (Music Assistant), meaning that custom cards (like the ones you mentioned) are the only way to build a filtered 'Kiosk-style' interface?
