I put this post under the ESPHome category but applies to everything HA branded. The new ESPhome builder is very pretty and has some nice features. (I only use the YAML editor, so most is lost on me.) But, really, making the favicons all very similar?
So, in there I have the builder, and tabs for ESPHome documentation, and also my HA instance, and this forum and also HA documentation pages. Couldn't they be just a little different so I'm not clicking all over the place?
(Yes, I use the favicon changer for my main HA instance.)
Don't the UX designers ever use tabs in their browsers?
Do you mean allowing color changes, or different designs? An option to change the icons would be nice, but it makes sense that the defaults are the same.
Oh yeah, the forum probably does need something a bit different.
But the ESPHome builder looks kind of like a grille, while HA's icon is like a plant. But in browser tabs they're hard to see. That's why I use PWAs/HA Companion app for my main ESPHome device builder + HA
I forgot I had a Chrome extension that alters or changes the icons. It's a reasonable workaround for now. Just not very as nice as well-designed icons.
@busman At the very beginning of my Home Assistant journey in 2021 I used to reference the HA Community a lot (read: tons of open tabs), and the same favicon for HA itself and the community was driving me up the wall as it was impossible to find the right tab. I found "Favicon changer" and have been using it since, however it appears to be deprecated and can therefore break at any time.
