One day in early February a new light appeared. It’s serial number is a Hue light, but all are my Hue’s are accounted for. This light does not appear in the Hue Lighting application, and is paired directly to my HUSBZB-1 controller.
I disabled this entity, but how do I delete it and where might it have come from?
This is concerning that an unknown entity can pair itself to my house. It has no “related devices” except for the controller it’s paired to. Where can I start to get to the bottom of this. I want to delete the entity entirely, but I can’t seem to find a way to do that.
What are the entity names? If they end in “-2” they’re duplicates of existing entities. Hue devices have been known to drop out of the network then rejoin as new devices, but usually it’s motion sensors.
I managed to delete the device. It wasn’t a duplicate name, and it didn’t control any light in my house. I had an indicator in my dashboard that a light was “on” which is why I went looking.
After deleting it, I can’t find anything that broke.
If it wasn’t a duplicate, then you might have a neighbor who bought a new Hue light and was wondering why they couldn’t get it to pair.
Your description suggests to me that you have some software controlling your Zigbee controller that has the equivalent of “permit join” on, and I suggest looking into how to change that.
