MyVaillant App vs. eebus (EVCC)

I’ve had a Vaillant aroTHERM Plus since June and would like to display various metrics in Home Assistant. Controlling the system isn’t on the table right now. Currently, the MyVaillant app is set up and working. I’ve also submitted the myVAILLANT integration, and it’s basically working so far. Unfortunately, I’m having issues with the API calls. The temperatures are “only” queried twice an hour. I think a short delay causes the API calls to the Vaillant Cloud to be blocked. I only retrieve the energy data once an hour, and yet the efficiency data in HA still shows as “not available.” After restarting HA, it works briefly.

Does anyone have any tips for me regarding the settings in the myVAILLANT integration? Additionally, I’d actually prefer not to be dependent on the Vaillant Cloud and the API calls. That’s why I’m thinking—since the VR940f internet module is also available—of using the eebus interface to retrieve the values locally. However, I have absolutely no experience with eebus, ebus, or Modbus. According to my online research, EVCC could read the data, but the EVCC documentation only lists SensoNET (API). Can I read data from the aroTHERM heat pump using EVCC? Is anyone here using this? What data can I retrieve?

I was thinking of installing EVCC as an LXC container on Proxmox and then sending the data to HA via MQTT. Would that approach be feasible?

So, I’d like to give a quick update. Since EVCC can only turn the heater on and off but doesn’t read any values, I decided—as I mentioned above—to go with the ebus Adapter Shield C6. Since I don’t have a power outlet near my Vaillant unit—and don’t want to install one—I’m tapping into the 230V power from a junction box using the MeanWell RS-15-5 and supplying the 5V power to the C6 via a USB-C cable.

Setting up the C6—including flashing the firmware and configuring the Wi-Fi—went smoothly, and that’s all there is to it. Just enter the ebus Adapter’s address in the ebusd app within Home Assistant, and you’re done.

The ebusd reads the EBUS data from the Vaillant and “presents” the values via MQTT. The first step is to “Disable” some features, because it reads a lot of values you probably don’t need (the 2nd and 3rd heating circuits, for example). I’m satisfied and can now access my temperature readings faster without the cloud :wink:.

no, I did not delete the MyVaillant integration. The integration is still active.

You have to install firmware first, then you can setup WLAN connection and the IP address is shown.

The aliexpress site doesn't works. I use Willkommen zum eBUS Adapter Shield - eBUS Adapter Shield C6.
