Hi! has anyone got the my vailant connect working with Home Assistant locally with HomeKit? I searched this thread and I can see that although someone said it might be possible, no one has tried it…

i cant seem to get current power consumption to show in the dashboard or history.

if i look in the developer tools states section i can see it in the firmware version box along with probably every value it was able to pull from the system.

have i got a newer firmware thats maybe confusing the integration?

I see the same since the recent outage on the Vaillant side. I also have version 404.1.27

Same situtaion here: statistics quota error. Reloading the integration gets the data one time but after a while the known quota error… Interval for statistics is 3600s. I tried also 5400s with no effect.

what i mean is ive never been able to display current power use.
only place i can find any reference to it is in the states page in the firmware version section, its listed in there with a whole load of stuff like cycles and number of hours run.

Energy statistics came back without further changes on my side. I’m still not getting real time power values.

Since the low resolution counters and the high resolution info from the app match my Shellies pretty closely (about 2% deviation), I am inclined to accept the values as is.

I stay with Shelly measurement because of 2 things:

  • in my case, the integration doesn’t measure electric energy spent on a Hot Water (only for Heating). Maybe it’s too small a value to count?
  • reported electric energy definitely doesn’t measure the boiler self-consumption, It’s makes about 5W when the boiler is idling in my case. But overall, it may be negligible as you mentioned.

I experienced the same. But it might be coincidence since I enabled real-time consumption (though I don’t know my device report it) - still not sure.
My guess is that it might be kind of a weekly quota, or something like this. Will see.

One of crucial entities from this integration checks the connectivity status. My heating automation works based exactly on its value. But what to do if this binary_sensor.vaillant_online_status shows offline or unavailable status?
Please, have a look on above history of this entity… and on my paramaters settings below:

What to do if my Vaillant VR921 Controller is being considered as OFFLINE or UNAVAILABE for such a long time? If I’m able to fully control my Vaillant devices and their data via Android App, then WHY am I NOT able to do the same from myVaillant HA integration? This is clear to me that the root cause is somewhere in the integration, not on my network or my mobile app sides.

I’m NOT blaming developers, but this is hard to work with such a serious issue… which leads to some remarkable frustration…

There are many potentially weak links when an integration makes use of an externally hosted API, even more so when that API is not officially supported by the supplier (Vaillant) for use by third party software, so it’s not clear that the root cause is in the integration.

Looking in the myVaillant app today I noticed there’s an option to enable EEBUS. I have the VR940f controller. I believe EEBUS is a local protocol. Perhaps we should be investigating that as an option for Vaillant integration in Home Assistant, rather than using their API.

There appears to be an official HA integration for EEBUS but it is marked as ‘legacy’.

If myVaillant integration is based on reverse-engineered vaillant API, it should behave similarily. Specifically, if the integration exceeds quotas, it should affect native applications then. But it doesn’t happen for some reason.
Not that I would blame devs. But obviously native mobile apps use different api, or at least there are significant differences between both.

IMO EBUS is not the same as EEBUS. I agree it would be great to be able to communicate with the boiler locally. I’m not aware about working HA solution though, while it’s frequently mentioned in context of Loxxone.

And one more finding: regardless quota exceeded errors causing sensors set to undefined, if I reload the integration, the sensors come alive, and energy appears in Energy dashboard within an hour. Strange, isn’t it?

Give the developers a break, folks.

Vaillant has tightened the reins on the use of the API in terms of quota recently, and analyzing the full behavior of an app is way more complicated than “just” reverse engineering a REST API.

If you say with confidence it should be easy and possible, pitch in.

Regarding ebus, the ebusd AddOn works well enough for me (even if I am missing some data points because ebus is its own can of worms), but it provides some info I don’t see in the app (like current adaptive heatcurve adjustment, or target flow temp) and provides local access to other info (like room temp and outside temp) I also get through the API but only with the API refresh times.

@HopsPopsAl dont know, but you can try it, the approval need aprox 1 week, but then you have a real feedback.

I got approved after aprox 7 days and after another 7 days a got access to the dashboard with the api details. So this seems the way to go. You get personal tokens and every request needs the gateway serial number.

I have had no time to dig deeper, if @pdd wants details, let me know.

What data points are you missing from the ebusd Addon?
I bought the ebus adapter after the recent outage, but didn’t had the time to install it.

My Installation is too new, so I am missing things like compressor stats and incoming/outgoing temp on the heat pump. I know that updated configs are available somewhere on the Internet but I haven’t quite figured out how to make those work.

I still have the problem that I don’t receive any energy values for days. Now again since Friday. Isn’t there a way to configure it so that it works stably?

I have a similar situation. Usually it works through a week, then dies on Friday or Saturday. Then recover on Monday. It looks like weakly quota reset at week beginning?

I have enabled Fetch real-time power usage and Fetch Energy management Data.
450 and 3600 secs, for updates period and energy update period respectively.

both update interval are set to 3600 secs on my installation

I am still getting no energy values from this integration.

For me, it started reporting energy since today’s 1:00am-2:00am interval
