Hi all,

not sure where to put this…

I’m thinking of trying Nabu Casa out but wanted to know…

1 - Is it easy to add to a running setup?
2 - Is it easy to remove?
3 - Does adding NC speed up the Notify:Mobile calls - at present they can take up to 20 minutes and I have no idea how they even work without remote access?
4 - Can my partner use it too or is it limited to one user?

  3. I dont know whether this is because of NC but my notifications are almost instantaneous.
  4. whomever has the user name and password can access, but usually you don’t need to access NC often.

#3 sounds more like an issue with your settings… for example allowing the app to run in the background, and/or allowing persistent connection.

And, if HA didn’t have access to the internet, you wouldn’t be getting any notifications when you’re away from home.

Very odd, the companion app does have run-all-the-time turned on, not sure about persistent connection - how would i check that?

I’ve never had remote access but the HA messaging does work but is very variable in time delay. I can send notifications from mode red to my mobile and they do pop-up it just takes time. It’s nowhere near rate-limiting as i only send a couple of messages per day.

With Nabu Casa can you also edit Node Red away from home?

If you have Node-RED installed as an HA App, and have it exposed on the HA menu, then access to the Node-RED editor as an i-frame is already there and available using Nabu Casa.

However, editing Node-RED flows, from inside HA, on a smart phone, whilst drinking a cocktail and lying on a sunbed in Spain is impractical.
