I’m pretty happy with Nabu Casa remote access from almost everywhere: mobile, pad, firewalled networks, VPNs, etc.
The only place where I can’t get acces is from my job: a very well protected corporation. I access the network either trough wifi or cable, but the answer is always “Unable… retrying…”. I also checked for the site to be on the employer’s black list (i.e. po*n sites, etc.) but this is not the case since for forbidden sites you receive a “forbidden” message on the browser.
Any ideas?
Probably the port number that flags it as being odd.
Try to move it to port 80 or 8123 or better yet contact your IT department and talk to them.
You probably will not like my answer but I’m giving it anyway.
Like Wally suggested, talk to your IT department.
Also, would you let people that work for you (on your house, car, …) do private stuff while you are paying for it…
My company has no issue with that. You just have to reach goals or you’re fired, whetever you do in the meantime…
Why go through all the hassle then and not just use your mobile?
In my corporate network there is a traffic ispection, even HTTPS, done by a cerificate injection by the proxy (i guess), and i found out that when some exotic TLS feature are used, the connection is blocked. This is the only reasonable explaination that I gave myself.
Also in my corporate the Websocket protocol (HTTP UPGRADE method) method is blocked.
As a Board Director, and with respect, I tell you that this is not a smart view. While obviously sales/financial results are crucial, the risks of a cyber security breach can destroy those results in a minute.
Of course, I am not saying that HA access necessarily poses a risk, but in 2025 any company should be very attentive to cyber security. Ransomware, reputational impact and more are all potential risks.
