I have my HA setup remotely connected via NabuCasa but also via Tailscale. I have setup Tailscale to have a second instance via RemoteHA connected to the main instance.
My observation is that the loading at start up via Tailscale is considerably faster than via NabuCasa. It sometimes look like NabuCasa is congested or so and then I use Tailscale and it’s up in a blink of an eye.
What could be the reason?
My instance is running on a RP4 with HaOS supervised. I don’t mind paying for NabuCasa to support the great work they do there (but Tailscale is free and faster🫣)
NavuCasa is meant to be the easy setup for remote access.
Tailscale is faster and free, but it is a VPN solution and does not support the same options as NabuCasa, which is a reverse tunnel.
NabuCasa is set up to support cloud services that require specific remote access configurations, like Google, Alexa and so on.
NabuCasa also support Voice and remote storage today.
Thank you, WallyR. I appreciate your explanation. I am aware of the benefits of Nabucasa and I am a loyal member for some years now. I just wondered why it’s slower than Tailscale. That’s all.
