Nanoleaf Elements phone home every minute

Hi all,

I have a few Nanoleaf Elements, which are managed by Home Assistant using the Nanoleaf integration. They are connected to a separate IoT VLAN, but I still monitor what’s going on in the whole network using AdGuard as the first DNS.

The two most queried domains every day are daemon.nanoleaf.me and health.nanoleaf.me, with 1500+ requests for each over a 24-hour period.

Does anyone know if it’s safe to block those, without this making it impossible to control the Elements from Home Assistant?

Is there a way to manage them completely cut off from the Internet?

Thank you!
(And apologies if this is not the correct category for my question, I just couldn’t find a more suitable one.)

If you go to an integration’s page It will tell you if it’s cloud or local. If it is local, you should be able to block it from the internet. Roborock is the only exception I know of but it’s noted on the integrations page.

Nanoleaf is local and has no warning.

You can disable the complete internet access. I tried that with my aurora now it worked. If the Elements behaves different you can try to use HomeKit
