Hi,
I use several NAS for a daily Backup and as mediaservers.
I run jellyfin on HA because HA is running on an overpowerd machine.
However, I turn off those NAS at night to save energy and they restart at 7:30 in the morning.
As expected I get an error message in HA that the Network resources are not reachable.

The main problem is, that the mounts I use under “My Media” for the mediathek are not returning after the NAS reconnect and are empty.
I considered using the samba addon to remount them via Automation when I get a successful ping or via timesheet.
But maybe there is a solution for the HA internal mount to be remounted when the NAS return?
For some reason HA does things differently from the rest of the world. Instead of checking to see if a NAS connection is available only when some process goes to use it, HA throws an error if it’s ever not on line. Which of course makes no sense, but apparently it’s not a high priority.
Agreed…
If you want to mount something, it has to be on at restart.
Turn the NAS back on, restart HA manually or with a homeassistant integration command.
That’s what I do, and the drive is mounted in the local filesystem. Otherwise it’s not available.
But I mount it in HA not in the OS. There is nothing in fstab etc…
I know that, when something has to be there at startup when you want to mount it, thats best practice, but why disable the mount if something is misssing in runtime? a simple remount could not be that hard ?
I would rather avoid restarting HA everyday, rather would I leave the NAS on.
Maybe it needs to be mounted in HAOS first, but that can be a bit tricky from HA, since there is no direct access.
You would then probably have to open up the SSH service directly to HAOS.
Yeah thought about that too, but FSTAB will be deleted everytime HAOS starts. It’s read only, like WD NAS. There might be a way to force it via SSH script.
BUT
I just found out that there is another Jellyfin Addon, that supports external drives and this addon mounts them manually.
I will try it tonight.
I also want to install jDownlaoder 2 as docker image, maybe portainer can mount it’s own images too, so I can get rid of all Apps on my NAS
