I am doing a retrofit on my natural gas mains. A new valve will need to be installed and I think after it I could get the gas guy to install a solenoid controlled one in series so that it could get shut off if gas leak detector is triggered.
I am looking for something similar to this:
I looked into it more and found that shelly gas detector dose have a gas manipulator addon https://www.shelly.com/products/shelly-gas-add-on
Which addresses my worries for having a detector from reputable brand and actuator valve leaking...
However, Shelly gas detector plugs right into a socket without a cord... and all my sockets are down low and methane gas goes up. https://www.shelly.com/products/shelly-gas-sensor-cng
Also shelly option is quite expensive 90 EUR and it is not like I needed it to be smart. Also actuator valve would be better with instant shut off...
If I do not find a better option I will have to install surface mounted socket by the ceiling which is a bit of extra work and quite inconvenient... Why did't have a cord that could be hidden behind the furniture.
Side comment:
I also saw more options that use Tuya and measure temperature... don't the methane gas detectors need heat to operate and that is why they are wall powered? How is that not total BS? Honestly why this not a feature of gas meters and or a common standard is confusing me.
