Need Daikin Wifi? Use the Open-Source Faikin ESP32 Hardware instead of the official wifi Modules

I don’t know the exact hardware involved, I think it is probably a buck converter or the like. I just bought the pre-built Faikin. However, others in this thread have built them from the ground up, so there are some posts in here that give specific directions on building the voltage component.

After having two genuine Daikin Wi-Fi cards go intermittent then fail in the last two years I have installed a Faikin instead. Super easy. All the functionality I had with the genuine adapter is present with the Faikin and now I’m just crossing my fingers that this actually lasts.

The information in this topic was very helpful. Thank you.

I spent a fair bit of time trying to set up a broadlink IR unit with my Daikin FTXM95WVMA, with very limited success. I bought the Fakin and installed it yesterday. For this daikin unit, accessing the control board was a pain and quite stressful, the entire shell of the unit needed to be removed, including 9 seperate screws (3 hidden) and a bunch of clips. Eventually I accessed the board, plugged in the unit and the faikin popped up on the local wifi. Here’s a photo of the exposed board with the plug location circled for anyone else with the same unit.

Given the “Home Assistant” checkbox in the fakin settings I was expecting the integration into HA would be a little easier. I needed to install the MQTT Mosquitto Broker addon in HA, then input my HA domain, username and password into the Fakin settings. I may be blind but I couldn’t find any instructions on this process anywhere, so it took a fair bit of trial and error.

The unit is set up in HA now, but I’m still having a few issues with the functions. Some of the settings such as “powerful” and “comfort mode” can be toggled on in the UI, but the toggle switch automatically switches off again after a few seconds. Does anyone have any idea how to activate these extra functions? Here’s a gif of this in action

Also, what does the “demand” function do?

I don’t know what all those functions are - I know that they have added a TON to this since I started this post; and there are a bunch of new functions in the Faikin that did not exist when I started - I also know that some functions are specific to some specific models, so while they might be there, they might not do anything for your model.

Fair enough, however the “powerful” and “comfort mode” are certainly features of my model. The comfort mode feature spins down the fan to a super low setting which is great once the room has heated up/ cooled down but you still want a bit of airflow.

There a quite a few FTX* models reported where the “Powerful” mode is not working. Your FTXM95WVMA seems to be not listed at all as a known working model. Maybe you want to add it?

It’s there as FTXMxxWVMA

FTXS here. i can confirm powerful/eco mode are supported by the splits but not controllable via S21 interface. nothing you can do on thi, if your FTXM is the same

The dev is aware of the issue. Another user reports that the mode used to work on an older build, so it’s possible it may be fixable.

Hey everyone checkin in in this thread. Happy user of 3x faikin 2x S21 and 1x s25 port. Have an issue on the one on s25 got lost every now or so. Do you know a Cron automation I can setup on ha to have faikin rebooted every day or so though mqtt?

I would check here:

Lots of good info on the github threads. Maybe even a solution for the problem, so you don’t need to use the cron option.

Just purchased another one for my ducted system. Getting sick and tired of the core Daikin integration taking forever to load after a restart and occasionally (rarely) having connection issues.

I’m about to install a Daikin system and I would like it to be compatible with the Faikin project. But I cannot really figure out if it is, or if it isn’t. I’m choosing between these models:

FTXM-A
FTXM-M
FTXM-N

It would be nice if it was just plug compatible, like what he shows in his youtube video on his wall unit. Does anyone know if these models are compatible, and with which connection?

Take a look at the List of confirmed working air con units. There are plenty of FTXM-units known to be compatible with Faikin boards and the cable type needed.

Thanks, I already did that, but it is not there. Maybe because it’s the current new models?

Make sure the model you choose has a S21 or a S403 socket present on the PCB. Chances are high that it will work.

As for the X50A or CN_WIRED sockets it’s a bit of a lucky game.

You might also want to go through the Discussions pages to get to know better what to expect.

Do you have a link to the models you are considering?

There are 33 matches for FTXM. I suspect your abbreviated model numbers are the issue.

What sort of Wifi module do they support? Is it onboard, and if not, how does it attach? Usually the Wifi is an extra add-on, and will need to be plugged into something. You will probably be able to use that “something”.
