i hope to get some help here…

currently i’m running an old aeotec zwave 5 stick…with lots of devices

now i wanted to migrate to my latest Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro and failed…so i wanted to do the small step to migrate to the Zstick 7 first..

I always get the same error here..

it’s the same error for the newest zstick 10 plus…

also i followed this guide

Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro Z-Wave & Zigbee

and had some “help” from aeotec support…but nothing did work so far…

i can see that the migration fails, since (i had done a backup a looong time ago) and the IDs at that time were below 200…

is there anyone, who could help me with?

Which SDK does your Gen5 key work with? You need at least 6.61 for the backups to be compatible with the 700 or 800 chips.

And are the 101 nodes working properly?
Do you have any more logs when restoring the backup? Try switching the logs to debug mode in Z-Wave JS UI first.

Have you tried creating a new backup on the 500 and restoring it to the 800?

What are you using to manage your network? Z-Wave JS UI? If so, you can find the logs on the corresponding app page.

Try to keep logs during the backup and during the restore.

Did you make sure to enter the same security keys?

yes, i do everytime i try a new backup of the zw500 stick…and i also try to install it on the zw800 stick
about the security key… i usually do it like this

• within zwave js ui i use the internal function to backup the nvram
• unplug the stick
• plug in the zw700 or zw800 stick
• change the device path in zwave js ui
• wait till it has been restarted
• restore nvme on zw700 or zw800 sitck

the security key i did not change, but i copied it from the zw500 settings
and i guess you mean this ones

i don’t know about the entries during the restore session, however…it seems the process is up to 100%…

the zw800 and zw700 are on the latst firmware from aeotec

You tried to completely reset your key before restoring your backup.
Normally, the key cuts off communication, loads the backup, and then resumes communication. Normally, there is no data exchange during the transfer.

ok…here we try again..

i fac res the zw800 aeotec stick using simplicity studio

doing a fresh backup on the zw500 controller

now, the new stick is online

now try to restore

it seems the backup was succesfull…

however, all nodes are dead now

the stick seems to have an issue with the region settings…but manually writing it won’t be persistent

First, use only the key 700 to transfer the backup.
Turn off the app Z-Wave JS UI. Then unplug the 500 key and plug the 700 key and start the app again. Stay like that five min, made a bakup of this empty network and see the logs.
It seems that your key is having trouble initializing. Do you get the same message and have the same problem with both keys ?

THANK YOU!!! YOU MADE MY DAY…

as per your suggestion i did backup my ZW700 (zstick 7) + ZW800 (zstick 10 pro) and did a factory reset…

also i downgraded the ZW800 from 7.24 to 7.23

afterwards i did fac res both devices and installed into the ZW700 the ZW500 backup…
the stick then suddenly discovered all devices…so i did an NVM Backup of the ZW700 ones.

This new backup then i installed into the ZW800 one and it immediately became working.
So it seems that

• ZW800 FW 7.24 is buggy while upgarding (regarding the RF Region ERROR 254)
• the direct upgrade from 500 > 800 my not be supported, since i had the issues with the RF before…

the failed devices are ok…one is broken and the other one not in use anymore..

now backup and update to 7.24

and working ^^
