I finally had time to look into the issue of the lights turning off when the same command is sent to them twice and I believe I have a fix.

I have added some more technical details in the Github issue.

You can update the firmware on your Neewer Controller by following the Flash firmware from binary steps outlined in the documentation.

Note, if you are using litiu’s component directly with custom YAML, you may want to switch to using my forked version. I’ve sent a pull request to litiu’s repository, but I’m not sure how long it will take for it to get merged.

I really like the additional entities your integration creates, making it transparent for instance which device is currently paired, change the paired device, or reboot the ESP32. The only thing I prefer using Litui’s neewerlight implementation directly is the ability to pair multiple Neewer lights to one ESP32. Is that something you considered adding? For my configuration using multiple Neewer lights close to each other in one room, BLE connectivity seems to be good enough (maybe only for Mk2?) to use one only ESP32 centrally.

Yes, this came up before. Since the Neewer Controller firmware is specifically intended to be used with the Neewer Controller hardware module living on the back of a light, I don’t think I will add the ability to pair multiple lights with it.

If you are already running an instance of ESPHome and are comfortable writing your own firmware YAML, a lot of the additional features of the firmware (i.e. being able to pair a light at runtime vs at build time) aren’t that valuable anyway.

Restocked supply on my Tindie store once again. The latest production run has a significantly lower profile and is more efficient due to a custom power supply for the ESP32 on the board itself.
