Nest SDM RTSP streams crash Home Assistant platform

Finally took the plunge today to migrate my Nest account to a Google one, with the forced update looming on the horizon, but having major issues with the camera streams.

Long story short, whenever attempting to open an RTSP stream from one of my Nest Cams or Nest Hello doorbell, the entire Home Assistant service will crash before restarting.
Nothing captured in the logs (even journalctl) prior to the crash — just the last line being a debug message about Google Nest SDM requesting a RTSP stream URL.

Thoughts?

Environment:
Home Assistant Core 2022.3.8
Python 3.9.9 (under Pyenv Virtualenv)
Ubuntu 18.04 (under ESXi 6.5)

Nest Devices:
1x Nest Thermostat (3rd Gen)
1x Nest Hello
2x Nest Cam Outdoor
3x Nest Protect (wired)

Did you find any solution to this? I found my CPU usage goes through the roof and overheats my Pi (despite precautions!), which locks the whole system and needs local access to reboot.

I didn’t — somehow it resolved itself — but I’m not sure what was the fix.

I did recently have a good cleanup of my instance by starting from scratch on a new VM with Ubuntu 22.04 (prev 18.04), and then restoring everything by hand. Also swapped from Apache to NGINX as the reverse proxy. Not sure if it was that, or something in the way of HA itself.

OK, thanks for the reply - I’ll see if I can find any more hints and maybe try it again now there’s been a fair few updates since my last try 12 months ago. It’s super frustrating as I’m in a different country half of the time so a full system lockup that isn’t resolvable by SSHing in is a real PITA.
