Netatmo/Legrand cloud completely DOWN (again) - Full diagnostic + formal legal action against BTicino

Sharing my ongoing saga with the BTicino MyHomeServer1 and the Netatmo/Legrand cloud, hoping it helps others dealing with the same issues.

TL;DR: The entire Netatmo cloud is returning 504 on all endpoints. MyHomeServer1 works perfectly on LAN but is useless for remote control. BTicino ignored my formal legal notice for 12+ months. I’ve now escalated to the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) and Legrand/Netatmo HQ.

TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTIC (May 3, 2026)

MyHomeServer1 on LAN: fully operational

  • Ping: 20/20, 0% loss, 3ms avg
  • WebSocket (8080): responding, JSON-RPC 2.0
  • OpenWebNet (20000): active

Netatmo/Legrand cloud: COMPLETELY DOWN

api.netatmo,com/homesdata - 504 (home data unreachable)
app.netatmo,net - 504 (web app dead)

Traceroute to api.netatmo,com dies at hop 5 inside Microsoft Azure Front Door (2a01:111:2000:2:8000::32aa). 25 consecutive timeouts after that. The fault is 100% in the Netatmo/Legrand backend.

My internet is fine (google,com: 200 in 0.79s).

This is NOT a one-off. It’s been happening for months, multiple times per month. Every time it happens, every MyHomeServer1 user loses all remote functionality.

WHAT I’VE DONE

  1. Sent BTicino a formal legal notice (Italian certified PEC) on April 12, 2025. ZERO response in 12+ months.
  2. Sent a SECOND formal notice today, copied to the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM).
  3. Sent parallel notice to Legrand SA (CEO Benoit Coquart) and Netatmo SAS (GM Alexandre Menu) in France.
  4. Contacted all four executives directly on LinkedIn.

FOR EU USERS

Under EU Directive 2019/770 (digital content and services), the obligation to maintain a functioning digital service applies for the ENTIRE duration of continuous supply - not just the 2-year warranty period. If the cloud is still being offered, it must work. Period.

FOR ITALIAN USERS

You can file a complaint with AGCM at AGCM - Segnala online - the more complaints they receive, the more likely they are to open a formal investigation.

Has anyone found a reliable local-only alternative that bypasses the Netatmo cloud entirely? I’m seriously considering migrating to Home Assistant with a local integration if one exists.

For some reason they posted/updated one but not the other.

Yes only noticed this when my heat pumps were not working. They rely on my Netatmo weather station external temperature. Up and working again now.

HA still can’t connect, but their own app works for me.

HA came back online for me with no action required…anything in your logs, etc.
Is your Netatmo “App” for HA still active in their dev portal?

Mine is back in HA now too.

HA still not work for me since their migration on 3th of May : Meteo and Climate devices were still not working in HA 2026.4.4.

Solution that Gemini gave me and it’s working NOW: HA / Parameter /Devices and Services / Netatmo / 3 dots menu / Reload
