Network performance issue under Hyper-V

Could anyone shed light on how to resolve a network performance issue I’m experiencing running HAOS under Hyper-V please?

My set up is pretty straightforward and follows the official guide for running HAOS under Hyper-V. The Win 11 PC has a wired gigabit connection into my LAN switch and the VM uses an external virtual switch etc. Everything is patched and up to date.

I’ve been successfully running this setup for a couple of years but at some point the network performance/reliability took a significant turn for the worse despite no changes other than applying updates to core etc.

The two primary symptoms are; firstly I see automations being triggered as devices/entities change state to “unknow” and then trigger again when comms to a device is restored despite no actual state change. This is annoying as I receive false notification throughout the day.

Secondly, I run a nmap script to capture devices connected to the network, the scan should take less than 10 seconds however it takes over 90 seconds to complete on the HOAS VM (same when run from command line within a terminal) whereas the same scan on a stock Debian VM running on the same Hyper-V instance takes less than 10 seconds. Hyper-V only runs there two VMs.

Any ideas on finding the root cause and how to fix would be much appreciated.

Thanks

J
