New "core" user with Failed to Probe USB Devce on SkyConnect

Hi, I’m a very fresh new user, and I’m sorry to immediately ask a question, but I feel I might be on the verge of trying the wrong fix.

I have an old chromebox running debian 12 with a fresh install of HA core 2024.3.3. Once I had that, I ordered a SkyConnect. When I plug it in, it is recognized, but when I select configure I get “Failed to probe the usb device”

Is there some specific thing I should have done, beyond installing “core?” Is the SkyConnect compatible with “core?” Some things I read say I might need an add-on and core doesn’t have add-ons …

TIA

Only if you want to use multiprotocol. If you just want Zigbee, no add-on needed. Check if your Skyconnect is flashed with the right firmware.

Thank you for your help.

I was able to upgrade using the web flasher. My device had shipped with skyconnect version 7.1.1.0 build 273, and I loaded 7.3.2.0

Unfortunately I still have the “could not probe” problem.

At this point I think I’ll try to reconfigure my hardware and load HA-OS rather than try the “base” route. Thanks though.

Can you see your Skyconnect if you go to Settings > System > Hardware > All Hardware?
I believe it should be listed under one of the tty options, though I could be wrong.

I’m up with Home Assistant OS and all is well now. I’m afraid I didn’t see your note and wasn’t able to test that with the ‘core’ install.

Purring like a kitten.
