New Custom Integration not showing in integrations list

Hi,
I’m a HA newbie and have a successful HA OS installation.

I’m now adding this installation to link in my Solar and Battery system:

Manual Installation.

It’s all done down to:
" 6. Setup this integration for your Alpha ESS energy storage system in Home Assistant via Configuration -> Integrations -> Add -> Alpha ESS"

The issue I have is that there is no option “Alpha ESS” available when I go to “Add Integration”. I have restarted. I have cleared the browser cache of the PC I’m using for access, all to no avail.

Any assistance will be gratefully received.
If I’ve been a numpty, I’ve broad shoulders!

With thanks,
Simon

Hi. Welcome. Is there a reason you did not install HACS but chose to do the manual install? HACS is way easier and helps you with updating integrations. Almost all custom integrations support it, those that do not should probably make you wary.

Like Edwin says, HACS install is way more robust and you will not have these situations on custom integrations.
How did you create the folder and uploaded all files? Could you make a screenshot of the folder and contents somehow (file editor addin possibly?)

Try restarting HA core

What Wally said. It can’t run if it isn’t initially loaded into memory with a restart…

Thanks Edwin,
It seems that HACS is almost an essential companion app. I’ll be following your recommendation and installing that next.

We’re going the HACs route next.
Folder was created using File Editor in HA
Files we’re downloaded to Win 11 PC unzipped and copied across the network using Samba Share

Tried and failed to fix it.
Now on to HACs if I can work out which installation I need.

You have a custom components folder inside the folder that should contain the integration. what is inside that folder should have been here. What is here now is what HACS needs to do the install.

So I would delete what is here, and if you still want to go the manual route, copy what is in the custom components folder from github.
