I have utilized “Method 1” to write the HAOS image to a Dell micro computer. The first boot seems to hang with no errors showing, but does not fully boot.
Computer is connected to wired home network with access to internet.
Total newbie to all this.
Thanks for any assistance.
Please provide a link when referencing ‘Method 1’. I expect most here know where that should have come from. But, with all of the ‘guides’ on the internet, it might have come from Joe Shmoe’s website.
So you have a monitor connected to the machine? What is the last text on the command line?
[ 1.824409] hid-generic 003:28E1:B006.0005 input,hiddev98,hidraw4: USB HID v1.11 Device [iSolution C236WI01+009] on usb-0000:00:14.0-6.3/input1
is the last line on the screen
So it’s getting stuck during the install by the looks of it. What devices are currently plugged into it?
NIC
Dell USB wireless keyboard/mouse(functional)
StarTech Displayport to HDMI adapter(functional)
Perhaps give it a try with a generic wired keyboard if you have one kicking around. I’m just wondering if for some reason that the issue simply because it references USB input… (you’ll never need a mouse connected anyway)
Agree. It is hanging on a USB HID (Human Interface Device) which is mouse and keyboard basically.
Or, touchscreen ![]()
I just pulled the keyboard/mouse dongle and rebooted. Hangs at same point.
Then pulled the USB for the Viewsonic touchscreen and it passed that point.
Now hung a little further down. I’ll keep removing things and maybe it’ll pass the boot process!
Thanks Dave for the speedy assistance! I’ll mess with it some more, and if I can’t get it going I’ll reach back out!!!
No worries. Once it’s up and running you shouldn’t need any monitor or keyboard connected so try and set it up with minimal connections.
Right. This will be a headless computer. A touchscreen makes no sense on the HA server. Use that on something else hitting HA through the web.
I kinda figured that out after our discussion! LOL!
It’s not what I though it was but I’m figuring it out!
And… Looks like the boot issue was either TPM or BIOS Absolute, which both have been disabled!
Again, thank you for your assistance!
