Just starting to get into matter/thread devices. A week ago I purchased the ZBT-2 and set it up as per HA docs as a thread border router. I already had matter running as I have been using a lockly matter to bluetooth gateway for a few garage locks, which have been working ok so far thru the gateway.
I have just purchased a couple of Jinvoo thread plugs and can’t get them into HA. I add them as matter devices (like I did with the lock gateway) but instead of searching for them the companion app instantly returns a screen that says no wifi connection, connect to wifi to setup device.
My phone is on my home network, I have tried both the 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks, no vpn in use, ipv6 enabled on network and also in HA. I had no issue when I added the lock gateway, but that was last year when my phone was an Apple, this year I switched to a Pixel. The phone does have the thread network configured on it.
Seems an odd error that the HA app doesn’t think its got a wifi connection for adding a matter device, even weirder that I thought thread was its own network and HA should be trying to use the ZBT-2.
I have done a bit more experimenting. If I turn off bluetooth on phone, then turn off smart watch bluetooth and then re-enable phone bluetooth I get a popup message on phone that matter device is ready for qr code scanning, after scanning code it wants to add using google home, which is not installed, but it lets me select another app to do this in.
When I select HA it opens the HA app “wifi scan device” screen but it still shows “no wifi connection”. I have checked the following are set:
Phone has an ipv6 address (as well as ipv4),
HA has ipv6 enabled and set to automatic and has an ipv6 address (as well as ipv4).
ZBT-2 is configured as thread border router.
Thread network exists and is set as HA default network for thread and a key has been generated.
Phone has thread network credentials in HA app.
Phone is set to home 2.4ghz wifi IoT network.
I am at a loss as to what else I can do/check/set, when I added the Lockly matter hub gateway (matter over wifi) to integrate my bluetooth Lockly locks last year it just worked as per HA docs to add a matter device.
