I tried out the new Labs cloud STT feature announced as part of 2026.9 and found it has way worse STT than the previous HA Cloud.
Several times I’ve said something like “Office Off” which it understood previously, but now hears “office of” or “office clock”, which causes errors.
I’m using American English and have a pretty neutral accent. I’m using Android tablets like an Apolosign and Facebook Portals running either AVA Pro or Kiosk Satellite.
Also, I noticed a new response when HA receives a “no_intent_match” error.
It says “Sorry, I see you’re targeting ‘Office Lights’ (a light), but I don’t know what action to take.”
I’ve altered responses in /homeassistant/custom_sentences/en/_common.yaml but I don’t see this response anywhere. I prefer really short responses (including just silence).
I already sent my feedback to the Labs google form, but I was wondering if others had this same experience. So far all the comments I’ve seen about this were very positive (or at the very least, nothing negative).
