Hi. So, I'm a long time smart home guy, but have just started with HA because I've reached the limit of my SmartThings hub. I started with Alexa, and still have all my echoes. I never got too far into really custom stuff, just mostly what works natively and a little into stuff that used custom drivers. Anyway, all I've done with HA so far is set up an Alarmo alarm. I've brought the SmartThings integration in with most of my devices, but all my non-alarm smart home stuff is still in SmartThings. I see that you can use Alexa as a media player, and I thought that sounded like fun. I downloaded it off HACS, and I thought I got it all configured. The echo devices are there, but I think I might be missing some of the entities it's supposed to bring in. People online do stuff where you can make her say things with TTS. I wanted an automation where she will tell me when the alarm has been armed. I created the automation, but it won't save because there is an "Integration Not Found" error. If you look at the Integrations page, it's there under "Configured". I've never set up any sort of media or TTS stuff, so maybe there's something I need to enable that I haven't yet? I tried posting on the FB group, but it's pretty busy over there with people constantly making new posts about AI or whatever. Any help would be appreciated.
Please follow Community Questions Guidelines #9, 11, and 13 by posting a properly formatted automation configuration and error logs, so we can actually see what you have done.
What makes you think that? Which entities are missing?
FWIW, the core integration, Alexa Devices, can do most of what AMP can do... some features that have been made unreliable by changes made by Amazon are not included in Alexa Devices. But, AD does include some more recent HA-based features that AMP does not, such as notify entities and auto-discovering Alexa routines and creating a button for them in HA to make it easier to fire them from automations, scripts, or the dashboard.
I'm sorry; I didn't mean any disrespect. ADHD, anyone? I'm pretty overwhelmed. There's a lot to digest using HA vs. plain old SmartThings.
I have HA installed on a mini pc connected by ethernet to my network. It's installed straight onto the hard drive as the operating system. I don't have it on a virtual machine or anything like that. It's the only thing on the mini pc.
Here is my automation.
I did try a search on this, but didn't find anything that related directly, as far as I could tell. I was interested in the Alexa Media Player because of a video I saw. I wasn't aware of Alexa Devices until now. I'll check it out.
Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate it.
