New user- basic integration troubles

Good afternoon all.

I am a brand new home assistant user. I have installed everything on a stand alone device that is hardwired directly in to my “main-secured” network. I have the permissions setup that the IOT network and devices can be seen by this main network.

before even getting into that. i have had trouble adding integrations.
I have tried added the Tuya integration and it prompts be to inter a user code. I have attempted this many times without success. It gives me unknown error. I have tried all recommendations provided online from setting home assistant default theme to changing password in smartlife/tuya to resetting/restarting home assistant.

I have also had failures with the factory installed radio integration and the weather integration.

I’m not thinking this has anything to do with the 2 networks, but maybe it does?

I’m getting frustrated.

Home assistant is not designed to work on a vlan and you will run into problems.

You can put your iot devices on a vlan but keep your home assistant on your main network and add firewall rules to allow iot devices to only talk with HA.

I velieve that is how it is set right now

Have you verified your firewall rules are set up properly?

This is the hardest way to run home assistant on a network and it requires a lot of tinkering and troubleshooting.

Regarxless of the location of the devices on different networks. Why can i not install the tuya integration?

Would i be better to just drop the iot network and hook everything to main network. Personal banking is probably the only sensitive thing we do.

Can you post a screenshot of the error you are getting? Show what the setup screen looks like, and what happens when you enter your credentials/code.

If I recall correctly, it gives you a QR code to help authenticate with Tuya cloud.

I will when I get home. It asks for the code. I put the code in and it says unknown error it never provides being QR code. I’m away for work and we’ll be back home Wednesday
