I just replaced the wireless access point (WAP) in my house with a new one. On the new WAP, I created the same SSIDs as on the old and used the same passwords. The new WAP is up and running - I can access the web from my phone via the new WAP.
However, the four devices in my Home Assistant system are showing as Unavailable. The first thing I did was reboot the Raspberry Pi. That didn’t help. I then went to Settings->System->Network and reconnected HA with the new WAP. That didn’t help. I unplugged and replugged one of the devices, that didn’t help. I then went to Settings->System and rebooted HA. That didn’t help.
In the WAP console, I do see each of the four HA devices.
Thanks for the feedback. I need to reach out to the WAP company. For most of the devices on my LAN, I have configured then as DHCP clients. However, when I look at the IPs via the WAP console page, they are weird…
Beyond just the basics of encryption settings, there are also quite a few more subtle settings that can make the authentication details different - and some clients are more picky in this regard than others. Therefore you might have to reconfigure the wireless settings on your failing client devices.
In general it might be easier to use a new/ different SSID and PSK if you change hardware (firmware), so you can be sure which of your clients ‘got the memo’ (the new credentials) or which don’t. It’s just a method to avoid confusion.
Thanks for pointing out what 169.x means. The IP addresses should be the ones assigned by my router, but they are showing up as 10.255. This is NOT the IP address we have from our service provider.
