Sorry, v basic question, but I searched around and couldn’t find an answer. I loaded HA on a Pi last week and hit update today. Its been an hour and the pi is still offline. Should I assume after an hour it failed and restart the machine? or do the updates take some time? It has 8gb Ram but is running on an SD card.

Assuming you have a Rpi5; if it hasn’t come back by itself after a couple of minutes, it’s probably stuck somehow & will need a manual reboot.
I have to do this for our own Rpi5 system from time to time.
Try the power button. If that does not work, disconnect the USB cable (or unplug from wall) & reconnect it.
After it is back online, check to see if the update has actually gone through.

Brilliant, thank you, rebooted and its back so I will try again. Looks like it didnt update 1st time around.
Do some searching here. There have been reports of problems with the latest HAOS version on RPi 5s. I don’t have one so I don’t know if it’s a real problem or just the usual “it didn’t work for me this time” kind of thing.
