Newbie, help setting up (first) sensor/indicator/automation

I’ve recently moved and have decided that as I’m starting from scratch that I would give Home Assistant a try instead of my old HomeSeer configuration. I don’t have any of my hardwired switches and such installed yet so I’m plodding along trying to learn using the more portable devices that I do have for now. Please feel free to correct me on terminology as I know that HA and HS don’t name things quite the same neccesarily.

I have installed the Zigbee integration and a ciouple of RGB bulb/lamps that will double as indicators. I’ve also installed the Openweather integration so that I have access to the current and forecast weather.

The following is what I had set up on the HomeSeer system and that I want to replicate here…

I had a virtual device used on my dashboards as an indicator (being the highly artistic individual that I’m not it was a colored dot) performing the same function in the physical realm I had an RGB Zigbee bulb.

I then had an event that would trigger a script (one of two scripts actually… one enabled in the summer and the other in the fall, winter and spring) if there had been a change in either the current temperature or the forecast temperatures covering the next 12 hours. The script answered two questions “is the current temperature below freezing” and “is the temperature expected to be below freezing in the next 12 hours”. Based on that the virtual indicator and the RGB bulb were either turned off (not freezing and not forecast), set to blue (currentlly freezing) or magenta (freeze forecast), The summer script did essentially the same except it was looking for excessively high temperatures.

What is the best approach to converting that HS event/script/actions into the same end result on the HA platform?

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

Hello mcisar,
Welcome to the HA forum!

It would help if you could to provide some code so we can see what you’ve done so far… We won’t be able to help if all we have is ‘I want to do this thing with this other thing’.
