I have a new green box home assistant. and a zwa-2 zwave antenna. I never used home assistant. I added a zooz zen72 light dimmer switch. From the z-wave JS UI control panel, it looks good, all green checks and says complete.
so how do I test the switch? I keep searching and finding an answer to look at the overview dashboard. Nope, not seeing it there. Seems really unintuitive, I’m not impressed but holding off on judgment. I am more frustrated at myself as I cannot figure anything out.
Could be something wrong with my zwave even. Initially i had zwave js on it, but then AI told me to put on zwave ui, so I did. Then somewhere I was told to get rid of zwave js. I uninstalled it multiple times and it popped back in. I stop the service and it starts on its own. It wasn’t until I disable at startup and restarted to get it to stop coming up. Anyway, all this to say, I might have something wrong with that part of the setup. AI keeps referring me to older documentation. Can someone just point me in the right direction here?
yes I don’t feel like there is a standard way for things and it is a bit confusing. I see the zwave js ui has node numbers, but under the device it does not have node numbers. In the name and location column in zwave js ui control panel devices list, it fails to have a name and location on some but others have a name and location. I added several about a week ago, so the interview should be over with. Not having the name or nodes associated with eachother causes a disconnect on how to find them when you want to do things like checking firmware or refresh or interview.
HA doesn’t sync device names and locations to Z-Wave JS (driver stores them), but Z-Wave JS UI does. So if you want them in sync you have to always include with Z-Wave JS, pre-setting the name and location when doing so. Post editing requires the Z-Wave integration to be restarted to see any changes. Edits in HA always override was is set by ZUI. Last I tried this location was not syncing, so maybe an issue.
