I would class myself as a ‘newbie’ although I’ve been a hassio user for a while and I personally believe that Home Assistant will be the operating environment for the mainstream eventually.
I know that help is available on the forum and recently this has been incredibly useful to me but I always feel that sometimes the questions I would want to ask are trivial and searching to find the answers are very time consuming.
My recent question was solved - within minutes of posting, which is great, but I spent many hours of searching and reading and testing until I became exasperated. That’s when I posted my question.
I would have liked to post a question on a ‘newbies’ section of the forum where ‘dumb’ or ‘new user’ questions are asked. There are obviously many HA users that are happy to help with new users and I’m the same but I feel that before a question is asked you must have at least researched the question to a fairly high degree.
If there was a newbie questions section then I wouldn’t have waited so long, researched via documentations, viewed irrelevant youtube video’s.
Home Assistant is now improving so quickly now that a lot of the documentation is out of date so new users are confused. The forum is the most up to date way to find answers, as I have experienced.
So my theory is to have a general newbies section that any basic questions can be asked andanswered, anything more detailed e.g. configuration specific, could be directed to that section of the forum.
