Next step(s) after adding SMLIGHT SLZB-06

I’ve managed to get the SLZB-06 added to my Home Assistant running in my TruNas server.

My Internet provider connects to my pfSense box. Connected to the pfSense box, I have 2 TL-SG108E gigabit switch, with one TL-SG1005P for the PoE for the SLZB-06.

I’ve been Googleing for a solution of the next step, but right now I haven’t been able to figure out if I need to add more to Home Assistant or if I can do a search of my house for Auto-Detect…

My initial goal is to connect a Ardunio to “sense” when someone is standing in front of the toilet with the seat down. Let me say I have 3 boys…

But in reality, that is a bit away from accomplishing. Right now, I’d like to get a sensor for my “office” to turn the lights on when I walk into it.

After that, it would be good to have a couple more sensors to add to the outside of the office to know “when” someone comes down the stairs or in that area to turn the lights on, then off when no one is around. Which will be a challenge since the switches currently is a 3-way switch, connected to a 4-way, then connected to a 3-way.

Same thing for the laundry room.

Either way, I’m going to need to just work on one thing at a time than trying to do multiple things.

Thanks, Michael

I’ll keep doing Google searches for my solutions and if I document my process, I’ll post it here or some where…

I’ve done some research after I organized my “office” with all the computers I’ve setup.

I’ve figured out that HomeAssistant on TruNas is limited and not what I want to run.

My next step is to move to an install on a separate computer. I have a computer sitting in the hallway that I’m going to consider using for now, unless it is too old of a computer to install on. If that is the case, then I’ll look at installing as a VM on my ubuntu, but think the computer will be not reliable enough, as I’ve been having issues with it rebooting/logging out just out of the blue while using it. Version 24.10 and I think it is having issues with the GPU. If that doesn’t work, it will be installed onto the Raspberry PI that I have running Pi-Hole, which would be okay, as I have pfSense to use for that…

Thanks, Michael
