i have setup a NFC tag to toggle a light, I have tested it and works fine. But I have realised that if I try to scan it from outaide the wifi range, it does not work, is it mandatory to be connected to the wifi network for it to work?
First question would be if you have HA Cloud. If you don’t, you’re going to need to have VPN connection from the device that you’re scanning the tag with into the network HA instance is on (from my understanding).
And where do you scan it?
A card reader or the phone?
Well I normally use tailscale ti access HA when not at home.
But i didnt know that for scanning tags ut would be neccesary.
I scan it from my mobile device. The idea is to open the door with a tag, this I wantater on, first I am doing sine test with a light.
So what i want is to kbow if theres aby eay to scan it and make it work from a place with no wifi network
Your phone has to be able to reach HA for it to work. How else would HA know your phone scanned something?
well, seen that way…
so no other way to scan the tag outside thje wifi range then…, isn´t it?
thx
