I thought I had nailed presence detection by moving away from Owntracks to GPSlogger. along with nmap. Alas no.
GPSlogger is set to use passive “location provider” which works mainly. The last 2 days I have been away at work 50 miles away and both times, it shows me at work, but when I drive home, it stays at work until nmap picks it up at home. So I am trying using GPS location provider updating every 100seconds hopefully it won’t drain the batter too much? :S
but also when we are at home I am getting 2 or 3 hour chunks over night where is says devices are “not home” both phones are android and wifi is set to never sleep… I just don’t get it at all it then has “home” for say 15 minutes, then not home for another hour or 2 or 3
now my wifes phone is on her desk (home worker) status has changed a few times
home - 7am-12:53
not home 12:53-13:26
home : 13:26 - 13:44
not home 13:44- 13:46
home 13:46 - now
anyone ave any ideas please? the wifi router is under her desk, DCHP is via the main router in the living room
I too use this setup and most of my issues (home/not home) have been when it should be connected to wifi. I figured it was related to the phone dropping wifi.
I have wondered if setting a static IP to the phone would solve this. My problem with this is I have multiple wireless APs and not sure if I could still get away with it.
just a thought, both phones were updated to Android 6.01 recently. Wonder if that has something to do with it… even after several hours of the phone not being touched, the “not home” flag is set. but if wifi is dropped, wouldn’t gps logger pick up via 3G? or would it hold ont the “not home” flag as nmap cannot see them?
Time to find an old phone (v4.4) and create a dummy account I guess
