No Longer Access HA Externally via HTTPS

My HA installation is messed up somehow. Running from Docker container. I can access internally using the 8123 port but when I try to access externally using HTTPS, all I get is “unable to connect and click to retry”. It was working just fine. I updated all the containers.

Running from latest 2023.3.4. Tried going backwards a few versions but same thing.

When I attempt to connect from external HTTPS address, I get these in the logs:

Internally the web GUI comes up just fine. SSL certificate shows valid externally. Proxied through NGINX (no changes made to that). No other changes made to my HA config either.

I see where others have had this web_protocol.py error but I have not found a solution to it.

When I try to connect using Firefox, I get this in the browser:

Sometimes that error occurs because you’re using https:// when only http:// is supported. Have you tried that?

Yes, not sure what happened since I haven’t changed anything (that I know of).

Interestingly, I tried http:// instead of https:// and it redirected to https:// but showed up as my router login screen. That is something I have been messing with recently (updated firmware and settings). Maybe I need to check that.

Yup - it was me messing with the router settings.

I had the wrong ports configured for NAT.
