No Option to Install Matter Server

I’m trying to add an Aqara M3 Hub to Home Assistant and I can’t find the option to install the Matter server. The hub is set up and visible in the Aqara Home app on my phone. I have HA installed as a TrueNAS Scale application. When I follow the directions on the Matter integration page, I do not get the option to “Select the connection method”, it just goes straight to asking me for the URL and no matter what I enter I get the message “Failed to connect”.

I’ve tried using both the Android app and directly in the HA installation and end up in the same place both ways.

I don’t have direct experience with the TrueNAS app, but I’ve seen a lot of connectivity issues solved by people creating a bridge and connecting apps or VMs to that. I’m making a guess, but if you don’t have a bridge configured in TrueNAS, I think it’s the first thing you should consider trying.

This is a good video to follow. Stux is a known member of the TrueNAS community and provides reliable information.

Is a “TrueNAS Scale application” the same as a HAOS virtual machine? If so, you can install the Matter server by going to the HA add-on store.

If you are not using HAOS, then you need to read the matter-sever docs to set it up yourself.
