Hello everyone, I truly hope you had a great week!
Ok, I posted a while back about my attempt to setup Home Assistant. It did not go well. It went so badly I unhooked my HA Green and was going to send it back. I ended up buying Homey Pro (which I love!) to augment my HomeKit setup.
I was told several times by different people across the internet to not give up on HA - that I could add it to my setup (Homey + HomeKit) and would probably end up making HA my main brain for my smart home. I was intrigued…
So I kept my HA Green and recently hooked it back up. It still has my previous (first) home on it, and I was able to log in just fine. But I think I should have factory reset and started over. That’s my question - should I?
Currently it’s just hooked up. Pretty much nothing is installed, other than 2 or 3 devices that survived my first attempt. But it does seem to remember devices from that attempt that are not currently setup on it. A few Aqara devices that were previously installed on my E1 hub - I have since switched to the M3 hub. So the devices that HA sees, it sees as “unavailable.” Another weird thing is it seems to see me as “away,” when I am not - it seems to see me as ALWAYS away.
My intention, at THIS point, is for HomeKit to be the main interface, largely for my wife (who has stated flatly that she will NOT be using HA, ever - she likes HomeKit), doing the more complex automations on Homey Pro - and using HA to get devices into Homey that I might not otherwise be able to. I also expect to lean more and more on HA, assuming I can get it up and running correctly.
So, at this point - would you recommend that I do a factory reset and just start over? I wouldn’t be losing anything - right now HA isn’t actually doing anything for me as I am unsure how I should proceed.
Thanks
