Forcing the insanely inaccurate systemd-timesyncd to run on VM based images seems like a gross misunderstanding of running in a VM.
Considering that the VM gets it’s clock from the host system already, and isn’t really capable of independent time (no HW clock . . .) it makes no sense, especially when the host has a precision time source. (For me, my server runs Stratum-0 . . .)
I find that while I can change the NTP source to point to the base system instead of some drifty Internet souces (the config file IS editable) I cannot, sadly, disable the marginal time services in HAOS completely, and depend on the host clock (and not have it croak from an external connectivity “blip”).
Can this at least be considered as a future option? It seems almost like a lot of the stuff in HAOS has been deliberately designed to be as user antagonistic as possible . . .
