Since the most recent update of the Home Assistant Companion app, The app will randomly start itself and launch while I am doing other things (YouTube, Google, whatever). Even after a force close of the app. This is on an iPad Pro. The debugging event log in the companion app only shows “Application Starting” along with the timestamp and “Unknown” which I imagine that field is the source of the entry, based on other log entries I see. I’ve made no other changes to the iPad. No OS updates. This just started after updating the companion app to v2025.7.1 last week. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
I haven’t noticed this but I generally leave the app backgrounded. I’ll force close it and see.
I started a Reddit thread on this and 2 other people have seen this as well.

Saw your thread on Reddit, specifically this part:
“I posted something on the Home Assistant forum so maybe the developers will see it.”
Developers don’t hang out here generally, nor do they fix things because someone posted a forum topic on the issue. If you want this looked into, you’ll need to raise an issue on Github.
Ok thanks. In the iOS App Store, for the HA Companion app, if you click on “App Support” it links to this forum. I created an issue on GitHub
same here on 3 different ipads ios 17 and ios 18.6
This is most disturbing and seems to happen more frequently every day.
App is 2025.7.2 btw.
Reported on GitHub. You can track it here:
